Sometimes our battery levels are just a bit too low and need recharging. Hmmm, recharging our batteries, as if! I hear you say. I know how you feel, as most of the time there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day for recharging any batteries. For most mums out there, the thought of taking it slow and giving yourself a bit of a break is just unthinkable. What would my family do if I took a day off? I can’t take a day off from being a mum to my kids and a wife to my husband. While it’s true that without our hard work the smooth running of the family machine would probably just fall apart, everyone needs a break!
If you feel that you simply don’t have the time or the money to spend on something like a spa day*, however, then why not try some of these budget loving pamper ideas to make you feel refreshed and ready to be awesome, again!
The simple joy of relaxing in a hot bubble bath with candles and a glass of wine is not to be underestimated. Just make sure that the kids (and hubby) are aware that you are going to be unavailable for the next hour – at least. 🙂 Get yourself a soft towel, your fluffy dressing gown, pyjamas and slippers ready to slip into once your done, because there is nothing that can undo a relaxing hot bath quicker than realising that you haven’t even got a towel ready for after the bath and you have to brace the cold air and soak the floors trying to get one as quick as you can!
If like me you can’t sit still for longer than 10 minutes, take a good book or magazine in with you and force yourself to read up to a certain point, by then you will probably have relaxed so much that you’ll never want to get out!
Watch a good film
Root out one of your old favorite films, dim the lights, put some candles on and get into your pajamas (you don’t have to get into your pj’s but for some reason I always feel much more relaxed when I’m in mine). This is another idea that is so simple and basic that it feels too obvious to be classed as a pamper idea, but if you’re anything like me then watching a good old chic flic usually only happens when I’m stood behind my ironing board, and even then I class it as a treat. So, why not get a few of your friends round and just relax for an evening over a good movie.
Treat yourself to a face mask
Not much can beat the feeling of your skin when you have treat yourself to a face mask. This is especially true for Mums that feel that they haven’t stopped looking drained and exhausted since the day their first child was born! It doesn’t matter whether you want to make your own face mask or buy one*, either way this can still be a really cheap way of pampering yourself. You can even combine this with a hot soak in a bubble bath to make it that bit more relaxing. Plus you don’t need to worry about answering the door with a green face if you’re in the bath!
Make your nails pretty
Our hands get put through a lot and usually they end up looking a bit worse for wear. But not all of us can afford, or even want to spend £30 a month on false nails. So, why not just treat yourself to a mini manicure and pedicure? You can do this yourself or you and a friend could make it a proper girly night and give each other a manicure and pedicure with a bottle of wine to share and some chocolates. It’s crazy what a difference having nice looking nails can make to the way you feel.
So there we have it, four pamper ideas that will make you feel refreshed and ready to go another day. Plus they are super cheap, so are just as great for your purse as they are for your mind!
